The Social Gerontology Laboratory focuses on the social aspects of growing old, aiming at developing lifelong progress to enhance the wellbeing of older person and promoting active, productive and independent lifestyles in old age. The Social Gerontology lab adopted the multi-disciplinary approach to address the multifaceted ageing issues such as the impact of demographic changes, ageism, intergenerational and social relations, intergenerational economics, economic security/vulnerability and psycho-social aspects.
The Social Gerontology Lab subthemes area of research and programs to support the three niche areas of MyAgeing TM by examining each of the areas from the social perspective at both micro and macro level involving various relevant stakeholders such as civil society, businesses and government.

The research areas under social lab provides beneficiaries with relevant evidence to formulate sustainable social security policies for the elderly, promote sustainable lifestyle for productive ageing and encourage preparation for old age among younger generations.
