Navigating the Path to Paper Acceptance: Insights from 'Avoiding Pitfalls in Article Journal Writing'

Serdang, 15 March -  The Training and Educational Resources on Ageing Committee (TERA) of MyAgeing™ organized a webinar entitled “Avoiding Pitfalls in Article Journal Writing.” This webinar was delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Hasanain Faisal Ghazi Habasha, representing the College of Nursing at Al-Bayan University.

The objectives of the program were to discuss the most common mistakes when writing a research paper, and how to avoid them to increase chances of paper acceptance. Approximately 15 participants, comprising MyAgeing™ staff and members of the public, received insights into the avoidable mistakes in research paper writing, including aspects of formatting and English language usage.

“Writing a scientific text is not an easy task, and it involves a series of skills. This writing style requires mastery of language and technical-scientific knowledge, in addition to knowledge of various techniques and recommendations about what can and should be avoided,”  stated Dr. Hasanain Faisal Ghazi Habasha.

Subsequently, participants were reminded of the importance of adhering to proper formatting guidelines and maintaining clarity in expression. Throughout the discussion, Dr. Hasanain meticulously went through each component of a research article, from the abstract to the references section, addressing common mistakes encountered in each segment.

Towards the end of the discussion, Dr. Hasanain Faisal Ghazi Habasha reiterated how the key to a paper’s acceptance lies in the language proficiency of one’s writing and the quality of the journals referenced. The discussion concluded with a quick Q&A session to address any remaining questions, followed by a brief photo session with the participants involved.

To conclude, the webinar provided invaluable insights into enhancing research paper writing skills. For those eager to further develop their expertise, we welcome applications for courses organized by MyAgeing™ at the following email addresses: tera.myageing@upm.edu.my / myageing@upm.edu.my / dir.ippm@upm.edu.my.
