Public Sector Retirees Have “Untapped” Potential as Future Economic Resources

Kuala Lumpur, 30 October 2018 – Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) [KWAP], in collaboration with the Malaysian Research Institute on Ageing (MyAgeingTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), today released the findings of an inaugural research project on retirement preparedness and productive ageing among government pre-retirees and retirees in the Klang Valley.

The research was commissioned in September 2017 following a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with KWAP in May of last year to foster research and knowledge exchange on retirement longevity and other issues relevant to the nation’s ageing population.

KWAP-MyAgeingTM research findings and recommended action plans are contained in the research report titled “Retirement Preparedness & Productive Ageing among Government Employees and Retirees in Klang Valley”, which will be shared with key stakeholders in the national pensioner ecosystem before it is made available for public access. A set of infographics highlighting key findings from the research is available at https://bit.ly/2Dbvb7p.
